We are pleased to announce that Bonnie Greer OBE, the Chicago-born author, playwright and long-time DAUK supporter, will give our keynote speech at DAUK’s DemocracyFest picnic this Sunday! Please see Bonnie’s biography below.
Our picnic, in London’s Portman Square, will start at 12pm and run until 5pm (rain or shine), with taco, BBQ, burger and ice cream trucks, and refreshments provided by the Redchurch Bar of Shoreditch.
There will be facepainting and other kids’ activities, representatives from DAUK’s diverse American community and free US voter registration assistance.
Musical entertainment will be provided by the London-based American folk singer Kate Ellis (www.kateellis.com).
For those who are looking to help our country through grassroots activism leading up the November midterms and beyond, our get-out-the-vote (GOTV) and policy groups including the Women’s Caucus, the Young Democrats and the LGBTQ+ Caucus will be on hand, to help you learn how you can make a difference.
Also present will be our ever-popular Political Book Club and Taxation Task Force Committees. DAUK has something for everyone!
Please RSVP at our event website and forward to your American friends in the UK!
If you’d like to volunteer to help with the picnic, please sign up here. It’s a great chance to meet other Americans and get involved!
