Candidate statements
To help the membership make a fully informed voting decision, the Elections Committee is allowing all nominees to submit a brief personal statement with their nomination forms summarizing:
- why they want to serve in the position they are nominated for
- what unique skills or attributes they feel they have to offer
- any areas of DAUK work they may have contributed to in the past
- what they would hope to achieve over the next 2 years.
Please note that all personal statements will be circulated to the entire membership in advance of the election
Submission of a statement constitutes an agreement to this circulation.
A candidate’s statement will be their opportunity to communicate with the entire membership of DAUK. Nominees for DPCA Representative, Executive Committee, and Council will not be invited to make a speech at the General Meeting.
Nominees may submit a statement of up to 500 words. The Elections Committee reserves the right to remove text beyond the word limit when publishing statements to the membership.
If you are seeking election to more than one position, then you may submit one personal statement only; this statement will support your candidacy for all positions for which you are running.
Your full statement shall only be included once when nominating statements are sent to the membership.
The Elections Committee will notify members no later than March 6th 2021 of all nominations received by February 20th 2021.
Candidate statements submitted by February 20th 2019 shall be circulated to the membership as soon as reasonably practicable.
However, no DAUK resources shall be used to circulate any candidate statements received after February 20th 2021. Reminders about the February 20th deadline will be communicated through all communication channels.
